Series 14 - Ep 6: Poultry, PPE's-Spraying, Dairy farming and Pasture
Welcome to Shamba Shape Up!
This week we are in Nyeri county and visiting farmers Martin and Grace.
They are young farmers. Martin works for the county and Grace is a Primary school teacher. They do most of the work on the farm and only get help when there is planting or digging. Waking up early, they take care of the cows before going to work and come back in the evening to do more work. They intend to raise their dairy production and join a co-op.
They also have one baby- 2 years.
We are learning about:
- Poultry farming - poultry center, how to order, delivery and add ons that it offers
- We learn how to turn our dairy production into something profitable.
- Climate change is here and with it comes disease, how do we handle this? Spray service providers and safety.
- We learn how to keep our livestock healthy even while the climate changes
