Series 16 - Ep 23: Solar powered irrigation systems, Mastitis, Pressure Cleaner and Shamba ni Biz Drama

Welcome to Shamba Shape Up Series 16!

This week we are in Kimana in Kajiado county, we are doing are revisiting a younger farmer Simon Sankale.

Simon Sankale has previously been featured on Shamba Shape Up. This is a follow-up visit to see how he has progressed. He is doing well overall but has experienced a few challenges.

After his water tank broke, he now needs a new tank to improve water management and enable him to irrigate his crops in the evenings. He is also rebuilding his livestock after an unfortunate incident of food poisoning. He currently has one dairy cow, a two-month-old calf, eight sheep, and three goats.

This week we are learning about:

  1. How to test his milking cows for mastitis and keep them healthy and mastitis-free.
  2. How to set up and manage his irrigation system so he can continue farming throughout the year, even during the dry season.
  3. How he can set up an additional income-generating business alongside his farm.

4. And on Shamba ni Biz, what’s happening on Musa’s farm? Are the two families finally making progress towards a peaceful resolution to their ongoing dispute?
