Welcome to Shamba Shape Up Series 16!
This week we are in Njoro in Nakuru county and we are visiting a couple who are farming together Edward and Pauline Mugambi.
They’ve been practicing conservation agriculture since 2005. They grow fruits, vegetables and maize. They have had challenges with pests and want to keep things organic. They have 30 kenbro chicken. They lost a cow to milk fever after calving down. They have a calf, an in-calf heifer.
We are learning about:
- How you can smoothly transition your in-calf cows to the milking phase successfully to avoid cases of milk fever and ensure your dairy cow gives you even more milk.
- A new organic way to control pests on your Avocado trees.
- How women farmers can save income from their farm to ensure their farming business does well.
