Series 16 - Ep 22: Mycellium insulation, Cattle Feeding, Vaccination and Shamba ni Biz Drama
Welcome to Shamba Shape Up Series 16!
This week we are in Nairasirasa in Narok county, and we are visiting farmers Allan and David Koipa. A father and son duo.
Allan is a retired KDF senior sergeant. Like many Maasai communities, they keep beef cattle and pull resources as father and son.
They also farm onions under drip irrigation. The Beef cattle – Sahiwal and Borana breed about 30 (this number may have changed by now). Goats- around 100. Sheep - 40
They grow-Onions, maize, potatoes, bananas.
We are going to learn about:
- We'll learn an eco-friendly, affordable, and easy solution of insulating your house, keeping it warm during the cold season and cool when it's hot.
- A step-by-step guide on feeding your cattle right, so they reach market weight faster.
- break down the major diseases affecting your sheep and goats, and why vaccination matters.
- And the drama on Shamba ni Biz continues... Issa makes a decision that throws everything into chaos. Will these two families move past it or is this just the beginning?
