Welcome to Shamba Shape Up Uganda!

Today’s farmer, he is a successful farmer who started as a boda boda rider and now he is a leader in the community.

This week we are in Namawata village in wakiso District and we’re visiting farmer Mutebi Ronald Kittata Muyima. A 47year old father of 14 children, an LC3 Chairman and proud farmer and his wife Nalwanga Teddy. Ronald and his wife live on their 21.3 Acres farm.

And on this farm they grow Coffee, bananas, Maize, Mangoes….. and they have 4 cows. Ronald loves his cows very much and Teddy just planted her Motoke, lets meet our farmers.

Mutebi Ronald, like many youths from rural Uganda, dreamed of a better life in the city. He first relocated from the village and bought a boda boda to start a transportation business. Life in the city was tough and full of trials, but it wasn't until he returned to the village with his ex-partner seven years ago that his life changed, he is now the LC3 Chairperson of his Sub-County.

His partner advised him to return to the village and start farming on his 21.3 acres of land. Ronald took her advice and ventured into several enterprises, including maize, agroforestry, coffee, tomatoes, and dairy farming. Unfortunately, he has not found most of these ventures profitable to his expectations.

Ronald faces several challenges, including a lack of adequate fodder for his cows and the impact of drought on his coffee plantation yield. With a large family of 14 children, there is a need for food security in his home.

Let’s go and learn more:
