Series 2 - Ep 16: Coffee, Banana, Cocoa and Record Keeping

Welcome to Shamba Shape Up Uganda!

Today we’re in Wakiso and we’re visiting farmer Nathan Sekanjako. He is just starting out in the brass band business, training these young players.

It’s much like his farming business, it’s doing well, but there is always room for improvement.

Nathan is a young man of many skills. He is a graduate of Makerere university having graduated with a degree in criminology. He is a farmer, a musician and runs a construction business too.

He trains local youth to play musical instruments and together they form the Alfred William Brass Band. They play live in local events like birthdays, funerals.

Nathan has two plots, one of two acres that has mainly coffee and banana and another 1 ½ acres where he’s started to grow cocoa.

Very interesting – so we want to find out how that’s been doing – and whether cocoa is a good money earner compared to the coffee.

Let’s go and Learn more:
