Series 2 - Ep 20: Chicken, Dairy Cows, Beans and Record Keeping

Welcome to Shamba Shape Up Uganda!

This week, we are in Nama 1 Village, located in Mukono District, approximately 30 kilometers from Kampala and we are visiting farmer Kiwanuka Lavasco Waiswa.

He resides on a 2-acre plot of land. It is evident that his passion lies in poultry farming, as his farm is dominated by a poultry house that has the capacity to house 2700 birds. However, currently, it only accommodates 130 birds.

In addition to his poultry, Mr. Waiswa also has pigs, a cow, and cultivates maize and beans on his farm.

Let’s go and learn more:

1. How to ensure the production of healthy birds and avoid Inbreed if you are rearing poultry breeds like Kenbro on your farm.

2. How to build a good zero grazing cow shed.

3. What are the steps taken if you want to plant beans for commercial farming?

4. How to keep all these enterprises in account with good record keeping.
