This week we’re in Abongoruuot village, Kangai Town Council in Dokolo District.
Our farmer today is 25-year-old Amede Esther, she is married to Enabu Abel and they have 2 children. Abel’s job takes was from home for long periods leaving the responsibilities of running the 4-acre farm to Esther.
On the farm she grows sunflower, soya beans, Sim sim, Maize, Sweet potatoes and cassava.
To earn extra income Esther runs a retail business in her house and also does hair dressing on the side.
We are learning about:
1. How to use aflasafe to protect our maize from aflatoxin.
2. When to harvest and how to dry and store sunflower.
3. Good agronomic practices on the farm.
4. What products we can get from Sunflower.
