Series 3 - Ep 6: Soil Testing, Macadamia, Bee Keeping and Coffee

Welcome to Shamba Shape Up Uganda!

This week we’re in Bitabago village, Rakai district and we here to meet 41-year-old Olive Namukasa a former secondary teacher but is now a full-time farmer. She has 2 children, 2 dependents and lives happily on her 1.5-acre piece of land.

Olive moved to the village 6 years ago and had to reintroduce some crops back into here shamba, on her farm she grows Bananas, coffee, beans, pumpkins, mushrooms, poultry and 15 macadamia trees.

We are learning about:

1. Importance of soil testing in coffee farming.

2. How to plant Macadamia nuts.

3. How to set up a new Bee hive
